Interestingly, Srinda had played his elder sister in Thattathin Marayathu.įor a refreshing change, Jude Anthany Joseph's Ohm Shanthi Oshaana has a girl (Nazriya Nazim) chase after the man of her dreams (Nivin Pauly) for years. And that has a lot to do with the comic brilliance of Nivin and Srinda. The wedding night sequence in this Abrid Shine film is one of the funniest comic scenes in Malayalam Cinema. And who can forget that famous dialogue - " avalu thattam ittalundaloo saare." that had become a craze when the film came out! Thattathin Marayathu reinvented Nivin's acting career, by giving him a softer, more romantic image. Though he doesn't indulge much comedy in here, his first scene with Salim Kumar (who is on a roll here) will leave you in splits. Advised for all who enjoyed reading Mills and Boons kind of romantic love stories, at some point of your adolescence.Nivin began his journey doing angry young man roles, and his debut film, directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan has him as the leader of his club - a young guy with heart of gold. Isha Talwar looks great but has very few dialogues and appears mute in much of the sequences. He is sure to find more fine projects and producers in the near future. Nivin Poly graduates into the big league with the role of Vinod which he handles with surprising ease. The highlights of 'Thattathin Marayathu' are the performances by the lead and outstanding visual support by Jomon T John. Two actors from the 'Malarvadi Gang'- Aju Varghese as a friend of Vinod and Bhagath Manuel who act as a courier of love letters between the loving hearts have some pretty good roles and so is Sunny Wayne's cameo. The initial back and forth flash cuts in the first half are pretty interesting, but the later half play spoilsport turning predictable, cliched and uneventful.
The male centric plot movie is told from the viewpoint of Vinod, making a confessional account to Premkumar (Manoj K Jayan) the inspector of the local Janamaithry Police station, who is all set to bring together all loving hearts in his vicinity. The movie loses its intensity as it progresses and ends up as a typical teenage love story. But the surprise comes in the form of no big conflicts, as all of a sudden we realize that Aisha, with a modern outlook living in an orthodox household is also smitten by love for Vinod for no particular reasons. Hailing from a wealthy and influential Muslim family, Aisha is in effect at the other end of the lifestyles that Vinod owns, who with his poor family, and leftist ideals are at impossible odds for a love and happy life with Aisha. Set in a small town in Thalassery with all that true accents and local specialities, the movie has Nivin poly as Vinod Nair, an average student from a middle class Hindu family who falls head over heels in love with a beautiful girl named Aisha (Isha Talwar). Though it lacks depth, its stylish narration and fine performances are something that goes in its favour. It is based in Thalassery where I originally come from and I am more comfortable when the stories are set there"Ī romantic flick is what my generation would love to watch over and over.These are some of the observations that Vineeth Sreenivasan made before presenting his new movie 'Thattathin Marayathu' to theatres.Yes, definitely a case of clearly marking the potential target audience before the project, the movie which is an innocent musical love story, works good specially for its targeted viewers.
